Live executionNinjaTrader 8ES futures15M

One setup. Traded with zero hesitation.

SMA20 Algo watches the 20-period average on the 15-minute ES chart, waits for one clean touch in the direction of the trend, and takes the trade for you. Fixed brackets. Hard daily limits. And a kill switch that walks it away the moment the day is done.

The mechanism

No black box. Here’s the whole loop.

Every check it makes before a single order goes out. If you can read a chart, you can see exactly why it trades.

1.0

Reads the bias

Last two closed candles above the average means longs only. Both below means shorts only. Anything in between, it waits for a cleaner read.

2.0

Waits for the touch

It wants price to open and close on the trend side, then wick in to tag the SMA20 within a tick. A retest, not a breakout. Patience is the edge.

3.0

Places the trade through CrossTrade

The second the touch confirms, it fires a market order with the take-profit and stop-loss already attached. No hesitation. No second-guessing. No fat-finger fills.

4.0

Reads the regime

It checks the daily SMA20 to tell bull from bear, then flips the profit and stop targets to fit the day. You don’t retune a thing.

5.0

Knows when to quit

Hit your max trades, your max losers, or a win streak you set in advance, and it shuts down for the day. Counters survive a restart, so there’s no talking it into one more.

The guardrails

Most of the code keeps you out of trouble.

Every control here is a setting you own, not a promise you have to trust.

trades/day

Max trades per day

Caps how many positions open before it clocks out for the day. Overtrading, gone.

sl/day

Max stop-losses per day

After a set number of losers, it stands down. Bad days stay small.

lockout

Consecutive-win lockout

Set a win streak that ends the day green. It banks the wins and stops while you’re ahead.

session

Session window

It only trades the hours you pick. Nothing fires overnight.

news

News blackout

Steps aside around scheduled releases so you’re never caught in a fresh trade on the print.

state

State persistence

Restart NinjaTrader mid-day and your limits, streak, and counters pick up right where they were.

alerts

Telegram alerts

Every entry, exit, and lockout hits your phone. You always know what it’s doing.

flatten

One-command flatten

Need out right now? One command flattens everything. You always have the override.

What it won’t promise you.

No win rate. No “guaranteed” anything. No screenshot of a five-figure afternoon. SMA20 Algo is a rules engine that executes one setup with discipline, and that is the entire pitch.

You set the size, the targets, and the risk. Futures carry a real risk of loss, and no tool changes that. If a page ever sells you certainty in trading, close the tab. This one never will.

Straight answers

Questions, answered like a person.

Do I need to know how to code?

Not a line. You import one file into NinjaTrader, paste your keys, and click OK. The setup guide walks every step with screenshots.

What does it cost to run beyond the subscription?

A CrossTrade account at around $24 a month to route the orders, plus your own futures account. NinjaTrader 8 itself is free. That’s the whole stack.

Does it work on prop-firm or evaluation accounts?

If your firm allows automated execution through NinjaTrader and permits CrossTrade, yes. Check your firm’s automation rules first, since some restrict or ban full automation, and their rules always win.

Is it fully automated, or just signals?

Fully automated. On a confirmed setup it places the order itself. Prefer to pull the trigger yourself? Run it for Telegram alerts only and enter by hand.

Can I change the take-profit, stop-loss and limits?

Yes. Every target, daily limit, session hour, and news window is a field you control. Sensible defaults ship in, but nothing is locked down.

What if my computer sleeps or drops connection?

NinjaTrader has to stay running for the algo to work. Most traders run it on a VPS so it never sleeps and never drops. The guide covers the Windows power settings either way.

Is this financial advice?

No. It’s an execution tool. It doesn’t know your account, your risk tolerance, or your goals. You do. Trade accordingly, and only with money you can afford to lose.

Let the rules trade the setup.
